LEAF
Pendant Lamp
Overview
LEAF is a pendant lamp designed around the idea of visual and physical balance.
Despite its asymmetric form, the lamp is precisely engineered to remain perfectly horizontal, creating a calm and controlled presence in space.
With a length of 120 cm, LEAF works as a horizontal architectural element, defining the space below it while maintaining a sense of lightness and suspension.
Concept
The project explores the relationship between asymmetry and equilibrium.
At first glance, LEAF appears unbalanced:the form extends, curves, and shifts its mass to one side.
In reality, the lamp is carefully counterbalanced so that the center of gravity aligns with the suspension point, allowing it to remain stable and horizontal.
This tension between what is perceived and what actually happens is at the core of the design.
Design Approach
The development of LEAF focused on three fundamental aspects:
Equilibrium
The lamp is designed to be physically balanced despite its asymmetric geometry.
The distribution of mass, thickness, and curvature ensures a stable horizontal position without visible counterweights.Proportion
The 120 cm length is intentionally emphasized, reinforcing the idea of a floating, horizontal surface rather than a traditional pendant.Light Quality
The inner diffuser spreads light softly and evenly, creating a warm, glare-free illumination suitable for long-term use.
Each design decision supports a sense of calm, precision, and control.
